Bacillus coagulans is a type of bacteria that is used in a similar way to lactobacilli and other probiotics as good bacteria, and it is formed from lactic acid. It produces lactic acid, but it is not considered a lactic acid bacterium. Unlike lactic-acid-derived bacteria such as lactobacilli or bifidobacteria, Bacillus coagulans forms reproductive structures called spores, which are in fact an important factor, apart from lactic acid bacteria.
Bacillus coagulans was discovered and named Bacillus coagulans in 1915 in a canned evaporated milk factory in Iowa, sprouting from the coagulation of the evaporated milk. It wraps itself in a protective coating, which helps it survive stomach acidity; the spores can stay alive for many years, and when conditions are favourable for them to grow, they literally open up.
The spores are activated in the acidic environment of the stomach and begin to germinate and proliferate in the intestine; as they absorb water, they swell and move faster, which propels them through the small intestine, promoting good intestinal and stomach health. The compound is consumed essentially to treat various types of diarrhoea, but also for digestive problems such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis), a bowel disorder called Clostridium difficile colitis, overgrowth of “bad” bacteria when short bowel syndrome appears, and infection with the Helicobacter pylori bacterium that causes ulcers.
It balances the body’s bacteria
The body cannot necessarily replenish its bacteria from the fruits, grains and legumes that are supposed to be eaten, so the use of different strains of bacteria from the dominant strains in the intestinal tract creates an ideal environment for some 400 or more sub-strains to co-exist and multiply. If a person suffers from sugar cravings, constipation, fatigue, reduced mental focus, bad breath, lack of sleep, night sweats, or joint pain or stiffness, or even skin problems, they are definitely out of balance.
Incredibly, all these common problems may be related to a bacterial imbalance of some kind; at this point the health benefits of Bacillus coagulans go beyond keeping the body healthy, and also boost better performance and results in sporting activity or muscle building.
It is a super probiotic
Probiotic means “pro-life”, compared with chemical antibiotics, which means “against life”; in simple terms, superfoods are so nutrient-dense that they have the capacity to sustain life. Today’s medical professionals do not work with diet, but instead give prescriptions for drugs designed to correct the errors of decades of poor management of the body.
We need more than 100 different nutrients per day, and since most people receive only 20-24, the key is to saturate the body with a broad spectrum of nutrients, and in this way produce a great deal of general well-being. Supplementation with hundreds of species of bacteria, including Bacillus coagulans, is responsible for almost all the important functions in the human body, such as protection of the immune system
It is useful after taking antibiotics
Antibiotics are obviously used to reduce harmful bacteria in the body; however, in the process they also destroy other beneficial bacteria in our bodies. Taking Bacillus coagulans can help improve the intestinal flora towards the desired balance of 85% “good bacteria”, as well as support the activity of the immune system.
More evidence is needed on Bacillus coagulans for other uses, and there is not yet enough information on how it might work for medical purposes. There is only some animal research showing the health benefits of Bacillus coagulans, and the doses depend on several factors such as age and other conditions.
