Classic Physique, more than muscles
Classic Rock, Classic Cars, Classic Books… Classic Bodybuilding… well, Classic Physique is one of the popular categories, but what does it mean?
Classic is timeless, revered, and always imitated; a Classic Physique is about symmetry, balance, and proportion.
Each muscle flows into the next with perfect harmony; no part is too large or too small. Words like “monster” and “mass” are replaced by “perfection” and “aesthetics.”
The legends of Classic Physique are Sergio Oliva, Frank Zane, and Flex Wheeler, who had their secrets and competed as bodybuilders; nevertheless, they all fit into this fantastic division of the sport we love.
The Keys to a Classic Physique
We are judging the Classic Physique athletes who are finalists in the 1st Online Bodybuilding and Cross Training Championship organized by MASmusculo.
The competitors in this division submitted their videos, showcasing their high-quality physiques and exceptional shape despite the quarantine.
In this way, we wanted to reward the effort, dedication, and patience involved in training at home, distributing up to 2,300 euros in prizes.
Our professionals have been judging all the muscle groups, their proportion, and symmetry, remembering that no single part detracts from the whole.
- Fine details are sought that highlight smaller muscle groups to add to the overall flow and impact of the physique.
- In addition, the main muscles and the connections between muscle groups should display deep separation.
Finally, in Classic Physique, broad delts, a small waist, and flared quads are judged for the ideal silhouette from the front and back.
Factors to Consider
- Balance: each muscle needs to be developed so that, combined with everything else, it improves the entire physique.
- Detail: a body can be huge, but if it does not have that sharp, finely developed appearance, it will not progress in Classic Physique. This means it needs more heavy training and high-repetition work.
- A small, chiseled waist: a small waist makes the shoulders and back look wider, the pectorals fuller, and gives the legs that outward flare. This results from exercise variety, working the abdominal cavity, and focusing on each movement.classic physique
How to Achieve This
For one thing, add variety; with all the machines available in gyms today, there should be no problem adding variety.
Variety will ensure that all parts of a muscle are worked for complete development and that three-dimensional appearance.
Using a combination of free weights, machines, and cables to give the muscles a different point of attack will lead to the ideal Classic Physique in less time.
Furthermore, the only way to develop dense, detailed muscles that come alive in every pose is through repetitions—more repetitions.
An athlete has to do the hard work to develop thick, striated muscle using all their tools, from strength, skill, and power, but above all, in every repetition of every set, using the powerful mind-muscle connection.
